When I was a teenager, we would spend the 4th of July at Pinehurst Country Club. They had a fabulous spread of food and decorations. We would spend the day at the swimming pool, flirting with the boys and stuffing our faces with ice cream and cheeseburgers. At dusk, patriotic music would start to fill the air. Everyone would quite down and find a lounger or a towel to lay on in the perfect location to watch the fireworks. I remember the music the most. It was always perfectly choreographed to each firework. Some fireworks would be shot up into the air and some were signs that were lit with sparklers. The sparklers would write out patriot sayings and the music would always help convey whatever was written on the sign. I think this is when I started to realize how much music can dictate a mood or feeling and relate to a holiday or celebration. I hope you download some of these songs and create your own memories with your family on this 4th of July!
