I have a love for learning. I love to learn how to cook or bake new things to feed my family, I love to learn how to build structures for my garden an how to or what to garden, I love to brush up on my painting, photography and drawing skills or learn new ways to create beautiful things for my home. I certainly can’t afford to go somewhere to take all of these classes so I have found a wonderful alternative. SkillShare.com I take a lot of my classes on www.skillshare.com. Have you heard of SkillShare? I have taken Calligraphy and Hand Lettering classes, Photography and Lightroom classes, I even took a class on making Meatballs!
A couple of nights ago, I took, Digital Drawing Workout: The Art of Subtraction by Shantell Martin, an artist out of New York. This was a short but amazing class that taught me how to use a fun app on iPad, called paper 53. Even though the 30 minute class was really about how to use the app, I learned so much from Shantell about abstract art and thinking a little differently than I normally do about creating art.
I entitled my project, Buddy the Cat. We were to create 5 different drawings based on one subject. So, I chose my cat, Buddy as my subject.
I think the first one, (the black and white one) really captured Buddy. I really enjoyed this project and plan to use Paper 53 a lot more in the future. I think I will have a book for ideas, and a book for sketches. If you want to try a SkillShare class, click here for a month of FREE classes on SkillShare. Let me know if you try out SkillShare!
